Shadow Painting: Connecting with Creative Identity

Through Shadow Painting, I transcend mental boundaries, allowing the essence and Creative Identity of spaces and objects to emerge freely, transforming light and shadow into expressive form.

As a designer, my skills have been dedicated to shaping the tangible world, yet my artistic practice is a profound ritual—a meditative journey that connects deeply with the unseen dimensions of creativity. With oils, pigments, and thoughtfully prepared canvases, making each painting an active meditation. Each artwork emerges uniquely, bridging the visible and invisible, and serving as a powerful reflection of Creative Identity in its purest form.

My project at the Convent exemplifies an exercise of creative identity adapted specifically to its space. According to a renowned medium, the location carries a significant spiritual charge due to past deaths. My paintings there, characterized by continuous organic, embryonic, and seminal references, transform shadows into vibrant color, creating a healing effect.

Shadow Paintings is an exhibition at O_Lumen in Madrid during ARCO 2024, showcasing my latest work. Through an intuitive process, I project shadows onto the canvas, allowing light and color to emerge instinctively. What began as an experiment with a family chandelier’s shadows has evolved into a deep artistic exploration, finding its natural home in a sacred space.

In my series of paintings I work from the shadows, to find the light: the shadows are my means to paint from the Creative Identity, without intermediation of the mind (in the style of what the surrealists called "psychic automatism").
